Behind the Mic

The pattern most people don’t realize they’re stuck in

A Note from Pam

This week, we’ve been talking about what it really means to be made new… not by starting over, but by choosing differently in the moment you’re in.

And behind the mic, I’ve been hearing this same pattern over and over again.

Not just in my own story… but in the people my guests are helping every day.

Today, I want to share what I’m seeing, and why it matters more than people realize.

Behind the Mic

One of the things I’ve been noticing, from the experts I’ve been talking to…isn’t just what they teach.

It’s what they keep seeing in the people they help.

Different industries.
Different struggles.

But the same pattern shows up again and again.

People aren’t falling apart all at once.

They’re slowly giving themselves away.

A little here…
a little there…

Until one day, they look up and think:

👉 “Why do I feel so drained?”
👉 “Why do I feel off… even when everything looks fine?”

This is what I call Quiet Depletion™.

And what stood out to me in this week’s conversation with David…was how often we’re “performing” in our lives.

Showing up.
Being kind.
Doing what needs to be done.

Even when we don’t feel it inside.

Because let’s be honest…

You can be doing all the right things on the outside, and still feel completely disconnected on the inside.

That’s where Quiet Depletion lives.

It builds when you:

  • keep showing up without checking in

  • keep giving without restoring

  • keep being “kind” to everyone else… but not to yourself

And over time?

It doesn’t just make you tired.

It changes how you show up.

As David shared, even kindness takes energy.

And when you’re running on empty…you start going through the motions.

Smiling… but not feeling it.
Showing up… but not fully there.

And most people don’t even realize it’s happening.

So what do they do?

They try to fix it the only way they know how:

👉 push harder
👉 be better
👉 do more

But that’s not the solution.

Because the problem isn’t effort.

👉 It’s awareness.

The Shift

The shift doesn’t happen when you overhaul your life.

It happens right here:

In the moment you’re about to say yes… again.

In the moment you’re about to override yourself… again.

And instead, you pause.

And ask:

👉 “Do I actually have the energy for this?”

Not:
“What will they think?”
Not:
“Should I just do it anyway?”

Just:

👉 “Do I have the capacity?”

Because protecting your energy isn’t selfish. It’s how you stop disappearing from your own life.

This is what I keep hearing behind the mic. And it always comes back to the same truth:

People don’t need to become someone new.

They need to stop giving away
the very parts of themselves
they’re trying to rebuild.

Because the moment you start protecting your energy…

👉 is the moment you start becoming someone who respects it.
