The Word I Wasn’t Looking For... But Needed

A quiet moment that revealed what pain has been trying to tell you.

A Note from Pam

I wasn’t looking for a message this weekend.

I just happened to see it… carved in stone.

Misericordia.

I had to look it up.

It means mercy

but not the soft, easy kind.

It means compassion that stays.
Love that holds steady.
Grace that shows up… even when it’s hard.

And I just stood there for a moment…

because it felt familiar.

Inside the Pause™

There’s something I want you to notice.

You don’t just learn how to survive life…

you learn how to override yourself in it.

Especially when love and pain get mixed together.

You learn to:

push through
keep showing up
keep loving

even when something underneath doesn’t feel right

And over time…

you stop questioning it.

If you read yesterday’s story…

you saw what that looks like.

Doing what needs to be done.
Carrying more than your share.
Loving anyway.

Even when it costs you.

The Moment Before the Pattern

But there’s always a moment.

Right before you:

say yes when you mean no
reach for something you don’t actually want
push past what your body is trying to tell you

There’s a pause.

It’s quiet.

Easy to miss.

But it’s there.

This is where everything changes

Because that moment isn’t asking you to fix everything.

It’s asking you to notice something.

👉 Not “why the love…”
👉 but why the pain

What is it pointing to?

What are you overriding?

What are you trying not to feel?

Here’s what I’ve learned

The pain isn’t there to shame you.

It’s there to show you something.

And the pause?

That’s where you begin to understand it.

In this week’s conversation, Carla shared a story about a golden statue that had been covered in mud to protect it.

Over time…people forgot what was underneath.

They believed the mud was the statue.

But it wasn’t.

And neither are the patterns you’ve been living in.

This week’s Delay the Binge™ Podcast episode goes deeper into this idea—identity, patterns, and what might actually be underneath it all.

Before you go…

That word stayed with me.

Misericordia.

Mercy.

Not because it was always given…

but because somewhere along the way…

you became it.
