What If the Story You’re Telling Yourself Isn’t the Only One?
Behind the Mic with Jennifer Greenhut + your early access to tomorrow’s conversation

After My Conversation with Jennifer Greenhut
Sometimes I finish a conversation and there’s one sentence that keeps following me around.
After talking with Jennifer Greenhut, it was a question:
“What’s in this for me?”
Jennifer survived stage four triple-negative breast cancer. And when she told me about the moment everything changed for her, it wasn’t because the circumstances had suddenly changed.
Her perspective had.
When Jennifer was first diagnosed, she believed cancer was punishment. She had already experienced the heartbreak of unsuccessful IVF, and now cancer seemed like one more piece of evidence that life was against her.
Then her doctor told her something that completely disrupted that story. Because of her cancer, she learned that a pregnancy could have killed her. Suddenly, something she had experienced as failure looked very different. Jennifer described it as realizing that perhaps life hadn't been punishing her at all.
Maybe she had been protected.
That doesn't mean the cancer became easy. It doesn't mean we have to turn every painful experience into something positive. But it does raise a question I haven't stopped thinking about:
How much of what we experience comes from what happened, and how much comes from the story we've attached to it?
That is what stayed with me after the microphone turned off.
🎬 My Behind the Mic Reflection
I recorded a short Behind the Mic because there was something else Jennifer said that connected so beautifully with what we've been exploring here at Delay the Binge.
She calls it her Pinch Me Method.
When life throws something at her and she feels herself beginning to spiral, she interrupts the pattern. She pauses. She breathes.
And instead of only asking: “Why is this happening to me?”
she asks: “What’s in this for me?”
That little interruption sounded awfully familiar to me.
Tomorrow's full conversation is about much more than surviving cancer.
Jennifer and I talk about achievement and worthiness, learning to receive love instead of always being the giver, gratitude without toxic positivity, trusting joy again, the stories we carry from childhood, and what happens when we realize we have a choice in how we experience what life hands us.
As a Behind the Mic subscriber, you don't have to wait until tomorrow.

Pam's Pause Point
If you don't have time for the whole conversation today, here's where I'd send you:
Start around 23:30.
Jennifer explains exactly how her Pinch Me Method works and why the tiny space between something happening and our reaction to it can change what happens next.
She puts it simply: we may not control what happens to us, but we have a choice in what we make of it and how we move through it.
Today's Plus One
The next time something doesn't go the way you expected, it doesn't have to be something enormous, catch the first story your mind starts writing.
Pause.
Then ask yourself: Is that the only story available to me?
Small pause. Different question. New possibility.
🧭 And Monday...The Journey Begins!
Jennifer's conversation closes one chapter of Delay the Binge at exactly the right moment.
Because Monday, August 10, we're beginning something completely different.
The Delay the Binge™ Journey.
Twenty conversations.
Four weeks.
Four themes:
AWAKENING → CHOOSING → BUILDING MOMENTUM → LIVING THE JOURNEY
But here's what I want you to know before we begin:
There is no getting behind here.
You do not need to listen to all 20 conversations. You don't have to complete every reflection. You don't need to keep up. And you certainly don't need another thing in your life that feels like homework.
Each conversation is simply a doorway.
Every week, I'll also send you a Journey Field Guide that brings the five voices from that week together around one central idea, so you can notice which conversation, question, or practice speaks most directly to you.
Be curious. Follow what speaks to you. Take what you need.
And perhaps Jennifer has already given us the perfect question to carry into Week One:
What if there's something here for me that I haven't seen yet?
I'll meet you there Monday.
With love,
Pam
Pause. Choose. Build momentum. Finish stronger.
