You’re Not Tired... You’re Depleted
You don’t lose yourself all at once, you lose yourself in small moments.
A Note from Pam
Yesterday, PJ shared a story, written under my pen name, PJ Hamilton, that might have felt a little too familiar.
Not because of the details…but because of the pattern.
Saying yes when you meant no.
Showing up when you were already exhausted.
Giving… just a little more than you had.
If you saw yourself in that story… this is where it starts to make sense.
Inside the Pause
Most people think they’re tired. They say things like, “I just need more sleep,” or “I just need a break.” But what if that’s not actually it?
What if the exhaustion you feel isn’t coming from how much you’re doing… but from how much of yourself you’re giving away?
Because people don’t lose themselves all at once. They lose themselves in small moments.
A yes they didn’t mean.
A conversation they didn’t have the energy for.
A situation they stayed in longer than they should have.
Not because they don’t know better…but because it feels easier in the moment.
And those moments add up. Until one day you look up and think:
Why do I feel so off?
Why am I so drained… when nothing is technically wrong?
That’s not just tired.
👉 That’s Quiet Depletion.
It doesn’t hit all at once. It builds, slowly, quietly, almost invisibly, until your energy isn’t really yours anymore.
The Shift
The shift doesn’t happen when you change everything.
It happens in the moment right before you answer.
The moment where you usually say yes.
The moment where you override yourself.
The moment where you don’t even check in… because you already know what you’re “supposed” to do.
And instead, you pause.
And ask:
👉 Do I actually have the energy for this?
Not, “What will they think?”
Not, “Should I just do it anyway?”
Just:
👉 Do I have the capacity?
Because protecting your energy isn’t selfish.
It’s how you stop disappearing from your own life.

From Fear To Connection: Parenting Through Identity Shifts | Heather Hester
👉 Listen here: https://geni.us/dtb-heather-hester
In this week’s conversation, we talk about what happens when fear takes over… and how the pause is what brings you back to yourself.
You don’t lose yourself in one big decision.
You lose yourself in the small moments where you stop choosing yourself.
And the moment you begin to notice that…
👉 is the moment you start becoming someone who doesn’t.
Stay in This Work
If today felt familiar… this isn’t something you “fix” overnight.
It’s something you begin to notice, one moment at a time.
That’s the work we’re doing inside Delay the Binge™.
Where we pause long enough to:
• recognize the pattern
• understand what’s underneath it
• and choose something different, without shame or force
If you’re not already connected beyond this email, here are a few ways to stay in the conversation:
Listen weekly → The Delay the Binge™ Podcast
Stay grounded → Inside the Pause each Wednesday
Go deeper → Follow along as we explore Quiet Depletion and the pause in real time
Because this isn’t about doing more.
It’s about learning to notice… before you disappear again.
Inside the Pause Reflection
Think about something on your plate right now, a request, a commitment, or even a conversation.
Now ask yourself:
👉 Do I actually have the energy for this?
And be honest.
